Chapeau conique-convexe ou mamelonné, un peu strié au bord, hygrophane, d’aspect soyeux, brun châtain à brun rougeâtre, puis gris brunâtre en séchant (max 10 cm).

Lames adnées à échancrées, blanchâtres puis rosâtres.

Pied gris-brun, couvert de fibrilles argentées.

Chair blanche. Saveur de farine. Odeur iodée, de poisson.

Sous feuillus et conifères. Souvent printanier.

Indigeste.
